Mapping of services provided in four districts

Between December 2010 and April 2011, IDU is carrying out the study “Mapping of services provided in four pilot districts of Moldova (Sîngerei, Telenești, Nisporeni and Cantemir) in the fields of employment, social protection and entrepreneurship”.

The objectives of the study are:

  • to build a database of the services delivered by each provider (state, public and private) in the four districts, with a focus on vulnerable social groups;
  • to identify the channels used to disseminate information about these services, at national and local level;
  • to map all active NGOs, networks and groups in these districts, as well as the educational institutions.

The study will analyse:

Services provided at local level – identifying all documents on the services delivered by different local providers, including their type, cost, outreach activities, target population and accessibility, with an emphasis on women’s empowerment. Services in employment, social protection, entrepreneurship, agriculture, business/SME development, finance and legislation will be reviewed, together with the level of representation of the organisations acting as service providers.

Information dissemination channels – mapping the channels used to disseminate information and describing international channels used by different states and by public and private providers, in order to compare them and recommend good practices for better informing women in rural and suburban areas of Moldova.

Active CSOs and other formal or informal groups – identifying all active civil society organisations, community organisations and active groups, including informal (unregistered) ones, in the four districts, with a short description of their activities, target beneficiaries, services and coverage area; and identifying the opportunities and challenges these organisations face, through interviews with selected stakeholders.

Regional media – mapping all media organisations in the four pilot districts, including unofficial publications, video and audio outlets.

Vocational education institutions – mapping all educational institutions in the four pilot districts that offer vocational training, describing their field, level, duration, cost and schedule.
