On 11 July 2014, at the Palace of the Republic (21 Nicolae Iorga St., Chișinău), within the project “Supporting target local authorities in strengthening inter-community cooperation capacities”, mayors from 40 localities across Moldova signed grant agreements for 10 inter-community cooperation projects. The projects will launch public services – waste collection and removal, street lighting, road maintenance and snow clearing, land improvement and capital repairs – benefiting more than 120,000 people. The total value of the grants provided by the Joint Integrated Local Development Programme / UNDP Moldova is USD 1 million.

Consultants of the Institute for Urban Development are assisting the following three clusters in implementing their projects:

The project will strengthen the capacity and technical equipment of the inter-community solid waste removal enterprise. The enterprise will be equipped with a modern waste collection vehicle and a multifunctional tractor for road maintenance and snow clearing.

Participating localities: Răzeni, Cigîrleni, Molești. Beneficiaries: over 13,000 inhabitants. JILDP grant: USD 100,000. Own contribution: MDL 781,647.

The project will establish and build the capacity of a multifunctional inter-community enterprise providing municipal services (maintenance of landfills and roads, winter snow clearing, maintenance and development of street lighting, etc.). The enterprise will be equipped with a multifunctional tractor for road grading and snow clearing, and street lighting will be rehabilitated along 3 km of streets.

3. Ciuciuleni cluster, Hîncești district

Participating localities: Ciuciuleni, Drăgușenii Noi, Pașcani and Secăreni. Beneficiaries: 3,000 inhabitants. JILDP grant: USD 100,000.

After managerial and financial restructuring, the enterprise will be equipped with modern multifunctional machinery for road maintenance, snow clearing and upkeep of public spaces.
