The Local Government Support Project in Moldova is a four-year, $9,3 million activity that will take place during the period 2012-2016. The project is financially supported by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and locally implemented by Chemonics International in partnership with subcontractors: VNG International, EnCon Services, Institute for Urban Development and Magenta Consulting.  

 

The project aims to assist local governments to design and implement policies and procedures that contribute to good governance, develop capacity to meet decentralized authorities and responsibilities for services in a transparent manner, and provide basic services that engender growth of local economies and make services more cost effective and efficient.

Local Socio-Economic Development Strategies developed in 22 localities from Moldova PDF Print E-mail

During the period of September 2011 - January 2012, the Institute for Urban Development has implemented the project "Support LPAs in the Target Communities to Develop/Update Local Socio-Economic Development Strategies in a Participatory, Human Rights Based and Gender Responsive Manner", in 22 villages from the rayons of Telenesti, Nisporeni, Calarasi and Stefan Voda, financially supported by UNDP / PCDLI.

New local development projects promoted with the support of the Joint Integrated Local Development Programme

 

During the project implementation „Support LPAs in the Target Communities to Develop/Update Local Socio-Economic Development Strategies in a Participatory, Human Rights Based and Gender Responsive Manner” 70 pilot communities within the country are supported by the Joint Integrated Local Development Programme (JILDP) to prepare strategies for local social and economic development through an approach based on human rights and gender equality. This innovative approach involves all community members in identifying local priorities and ensuring equal benefits from local development for all inhabitants of the community, including vulnerable groups, discriminated, socially excluded and marginalized groups. At the same time, JILDP also provides financial support to implement the local development initiatives identified by the members of these communities. So far, 25 local development projects were initiated, and another 35 projects are in the final evaluation stage.

"Sprijin autorităţilor publice locale din comunităţile ţintă pentru a elabora /actualiza Strategiile de dezvoltare socio – economică în manieră participativă bazate pe drepturile omului şi egalitatea de gen"

 

În perioada 1 septembrie – 2 decembrie 2011 va demara proiectul cu tema “Sprijin autorităţilor publice locale din comunităţile ţintă pentru a dezvolta / actualiza Strategiile de dezvoltare socio – economică în manieră participativă bazate pe drepturile omului şi egalitate de gen”. Proiectul este sprijinit financiar de Programul PNUD/PCDLI şi este realizat de către „Institutul de Dezvoltare Urbană” în raioanele Teleneşti, Nisporeni, Călăraşi şi Ştefan – Vodă.

National Consultation “Improving local service to empower Women and Men in the Republic of Moldova”

 

On April 27, 2011, at Hotel “Codru”, was held a National Consultation on “Improving local service to empower Women and Men in the Republic of Moldova”. The event was organized by UN Women Program, supported by Embassy of Sweden and Moldovan Government.

 

One of the main goals of the event was the presentation of the results of the Study on mapping services provided in four pilot rayons of Moldova in areas of employment, social protection and entrepreneurship. After the results were presented, the participants of the event have carried out several debates on results obtained and have made some proposals for completing the study.
